The international environmental organization Greenpeace unveiled a new mascot that represents the "dangerous amounts of pollution" caused by mining the first cryptocurrency.
According to the environmentalists, the technology's "outdated code" is seriously damaging to the environment. For them, bitcoin "has become a major obstacle in the fight to phase out fossil fuels."
